The Peak Organics team has been fortunate to witness another fulfilling year.
This has involved production of the certified quality organic produce, significant interactions with the wider community as well as the team’s continuing financial support of Ivorys Rock Foundation.
Our small, steady and committed team of ‘farmers’ has enjoyed pulling together the various projects. A wide range of activities makes up the year – it isn’t only about digging up weeds! (be in touch if you would like to know about the simple and various jobs on and off site that are regularly available.)
We had a substantial rosella harvest in the autumn - fruit being purchased by the local jam makers, as well as drying and packing some for our own teas, cooking up VA items with the rosellas as well and other abundant fruits (e.g. varieties of citrus) and more.
Several high school groups who study a food sustainability unit, and our regular NDIS visitors enjoyed their experiences as they discovered ‘the farm’. Seeing the students consider new ideas from topics being discussed, and the NDIS clients building their confidence and skill set are rewarding for our team.
We hosted the public again this year as participants in the “Scenic Rim Farm Gate Trail” in the winter. It is a pleasure to share this corner of Amaroo with the local visitors. We offered the farm as a ‘chill zone’ again during the International Peace Conference in September. Many visitors expressed their appreciation for the space and its ambience
Our ongoing determination to overcome fire ants in an environmentally friendly way is progressing well. High pressurised steam is injected into the nests by an expert technician who provides the know-how and specialised equipment and is contracted as the need arises. So far, three treatments during the past couple of years encourages us to persevere.
A great amount of diverse activity unfolds throughout the seasons of the farm year. These are just a few glimpses. The overall feeling is of gratitude - to be able to participate in a project that is an asset under the Amaroo sky.
🧑🏻🎄 🎄 For those of you who live locally, the Farm is offering produce that will make ideal Christmas gifts. There are teas, jams, gift vouchers, geraniums in terra cotta pots and seeds.
You can contact the
Farm Facebook for details. The Farm closes on 23rd December for Christmas. 🎅🏻🌲
